Update - We have just heard from Bean’s owner and thankfully Bean is now safely home ! Fantastic news . 💚

Please ask someone who Bean is most bonded with to remain in the area as Bean may try to return to the missing point . Contact local vets , rescues and the dog warden just in case anyone has maybe found Bean and handed him in - do this even if Bean is microchipped .

I have reported him missing to local vets animal shelter and alerted the highways incase he tries to cross

Okay that’s good . It is vitally important that if Bean is sighted , that no one shouts , whistles , tries to catch or tries to chase Bean as he will likely run and there are nearby hazards . It’s important that sightings are called in only and that someone who Bean is familiar with / bonded with is in the area .

Also register Bean with Doglost.co.uk , they are a national data base , will also alert local volunteers and you will get many more shares . Ensure Bean has an access into the home should he try to return and ensure someone is home ! Leave a light on in the home overnight and if your neighbour or someone who Bean is familiar with could place some unwashed clothing belonging to the person who Bean is most bonded with by the open door with a small amount of strong smelling food . Most dogs will try to return ( home or to missing point / somewhere familiar , once they have settled , if they are able and importantly , if they aren’t chased or spooked further away .

Please refer to the “ How it works “ section of our website, which will take you through , step by step , with detailed information and advice to follow when your dog is missing from home or whilst on a walk . Also refer to the section of our website which provides the emergency numbers to call if there are any nearby hazards . Notify the relevant authorities , who will put alerts out and remain vigilant .
